Happy Fathers Day!
Happy Fathers Day to the man who taught me everything.
(like the most effective way to blow something up)
I love you.

A Christmas Story
Everyone has a memory that really stands out in their life. My Grandfather has made a name for himself by telling stories and encouraging others to share their own. (Check out his website here. I'm telling you it's totally worth it.) Personally, I don't really know if I have a specific story, but I do have a song. My sister and I were bathed and baptized in musicals, especially Christmas musicals. White Christmas was always my favorite mostly because of the song "Sisters". I honestly think Bing and Danny did it best. Their version defines the relationship I have with my sister, goofy, never too serious, but always meaningful. This song and this particular musical have a special place in my heart. It reminds me of my family, Christmases in Massachusetts, and a lovely childhood.
Do you have a story or a song? I'd love it if you'd share.

Happy Birthday Jeffy!
Today is my husbands 29th birthday and I can't be more excited for him. Today, not only is he enjoying a day of his favorite meals and a homemade strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting, but he was accepted into KU! I'm beyond thrilled.

Just a Taste
So.... I graduated. Yup. I did that.
That totally gave me an excuse to make a ton of delicious food, invite friends over and walk around barefoot. It was awesomeness, yes, awesomeness.
I thought I'd share some of the deliciousness with the rest of the world. Click the link and enjoy the recipes!

Guess what I did this weekend...
I graduated from The University of Kansas with a B.A in Political Science!
It took me a long time and a lot of hard work and sacrifice but I did it and I couldn't have done it without my patient, loving husband.

Oh Tuesday

Today has been... Well, to say the least, upsetting. My grandfather (pictured above in his sharp 1960s suit) was rushed to the E.R. From what I've heard he's fine and they're running some tests but it doesn't stop your mind from scanning through all of the horrendous possibilities. So if you read this, and whether or not you know him personally, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
On days like this I enjoy stupid little videos like this to cheer me up. I also know how much he LOVES cats.... har har. Hope it makes your tuesday a little brighter.

Our Christmas
Another Christmas has come and gone and the year is almost over! Can you believe it?? I really cannot. We had a fantastic Christmas this year. The only way to describe it is to say that we have an amazing family. My parents graciously sent us some awesome gifts. We received a beautiful set of dishes, an AMAZING food processor (which I don't have photos of) and some gift cards. I also got a Home Goods gift card from my grandparents, so watch out for that post!

I had to add one photo of my sweet doggie. We piled all the wrapping paper on him and apparently he enjoyed it. It took him awhile to get out of it.

Happy Birthday Grandma and Uncle Scott!
Today I have two birthdays to celebrate. First is my maternal grandmothers. I won't say how young she's turning, just know her cake is in flames... ;) I thought I'd share a few of the fantastic photos I have of her.

I believe this is her high school senior photo
Happy Birthday Grams!!!!!!!
Today is also my Uncle Scott's birthday. Um, Scott, these are the most recent photos I have of you...

This is of him and my Dad's family. He's the one on the right of Grandpa.
Happy Birthday Uncle Scott!

Happy Birthday Grandma!

Today is an awesome day. Not only is it countertop day and election day, it's also my Grandmothers birthday! She has moved from my current city to live with one of her sons in another state so unfortunately I cannot wish her a happy birthday in person. So Happy Birthday Grandma B!
P.S- Don't forget to vote.

Feeling Fall
So tonight we had our first dinner party at the house. It went awesome! We had baked brie for an appetizer, a pot roast with yukon gold potatoes and carrots for dinner, and then an apricot/apple tart for dinner. Delicious.. I'm so full! I also love that I have a friend who will try new wines with me. I took the time tonight to start preparing for fall and adding a bit of Halloween to our decor. If you know me personally you know that I absolutely hate Halloween. I never can come up with a good costume and no one gives me candy anymore!!! So Jeff and I found some new little treasures that we could both agree on. Take a look:

Of course, this is only the beginning. No, I do not plan to string spider webs all over my house (ick), but I want to add some cornhusks, hay bales (outside), more pumpkins, acorns, pine cones and some brown paper covered books maybe. I enjoy fall decor, but I just can't get into spiders, creepy crawlies, witches and skeletons. So this, this is my compromise. All the fall stuff is just getting me itching for Christmas!! I can't wait!

Our Anniversary
So like I said yesterday, we were celebrating our second anniversary. I just wanted to share a few photos with you.
First a few shots of us:

This is the place we ate. Pricey but totally amazingly tasty:
Obviously I liked it. They bring you a ton of different meats to try, mashed potatoes, polenta and fried bananas. Also, they have a fancy schmancy salad bar. You just have to pay one price (like a normal buffet) and it's pretty much all you can eat.

We even had a pretty sunset!
Later on we took a walk down the river walk and saw this really cool bridge. I had to take a few photos.

One more of the hairband I made. The feathers stick up a little farther than they look, but this unfortunately is the best shot.

Here's to two happy years!

New Goodies!!!
So at the end of last week I acquired some new chairs! My amazing Mother-in-law found two rocking chairs that work perfectly in the house. I'm excited about my new projects!

Snapshots
Have you ever had a weekend that really wasn't a weekend? I totally did. My family and I moved my grandparents out to live with my Uncle. We accomplished a lot and I'm sure we're all exhausted. Anyway, I took a few photos I thought I'd share. I'll post a real entry later, I promise.
First.. My dog, Mr. B. I probably should just introduce him as my son.
One of the staircases in my grandparents "new" home. It is a 3000 sq ft home built around 1900. This staircase led to a gigantic attic which held a resident bat. My aunt and I definitely were startled when it started flying at our heads. (I secretly kind of loved that experience)

Later on I will post photos of the chairs and mantel. They're about finished! Finally....I know.
