Finding Balance in an Unbalanced World

First... That photo is not me.  In fact, you don't want to see my little pooch of flub.

I've recently discovered that my stick-of-butter a day (p.s- that's an exaggeration) habit is quickly catching up to me. Yuck.  The goal of switching to homemade, from scratch cooking was to get rid of the chemicals and it kind of back fired.  The truth is, I'm doing it wrong.  Yes, cheese is pretty much the nectar of the gods, but it's not good for my hips and thighs.  So here's the deal.  I need to compromise.  All natural eating, balanced diet and exercise.  This means more fruit, veggies and oil/butter-less cooking. It's time to break out the grill and the broiler pan and smaller plates.

P.S:  I don't ever want to call this a diet.  Food should be savored, enjoyed and lingered over.  Flavor should be the goal and huge portions should not be shoveled into ones mouth.  Another issue,  deprivation.  I'm against it!  What is life without butter?  Not a good life I say!  Therefore, exercise is essential.  Oh, and I hate it.  I'm hoping that extensive time in the garden, cleaning house and dog walks will supplement some time in the gym.  I honestly hate the gym but I'm feeling like I may not be able to skirt around it for awhile.  If I could spend the rest of my life on the couch I totally would.  Unfortunately, I can't.

Sigh.

So here we go. Here's to being a healthy foodie.
