Under Construction

You might have noticed that my layout has changed a bit. I am in no way done with it. Please excuse my dust while I continue to be my extremely picky self.

Next

So we like another house. Jeff is itching to put an offer on it. Hopefully I can get him to hold on a bit, and that house will stay on the market longer.. We're both very aware that two mortgages is not the desired outcome, we have a few Plan B's in place.. We'll see.....
But check out the house and see what you think.

So...

That house last night?? Not so much.. Nasty linoleum, the doors were white and the woodwork was oak, textured walls, small garage and a pantry the size of a tiny telephone booth.. ICK. It also made me appreciate how much work we did to clean our place, our closets at least look organized.

I've found something else I might want to take a look at..

Ceramic floors, dark cabinets, and new construction scream purchase me. We'll see if Jeff is interested, but honestly, I hope he is!

The other owners still aren't answering so I'm writing them off as well. Even if they counter offer at this point I'm not sure I'd give a hoot. Bad business is an easy way to never sell your house. Just saying.

The weather looks promising for our open house. When the sun is out our lawn looks extra green and our door looks extra red. Perfect way to make a sale! hahaha. I can dream can't I?

Still waiting!

I cannot believe it. We put the offer in on Sunday, contacted them and everything and have not heard a thing. At this point I'm not sure I care anymore, I want him to say no just so we can keep looking! Obviously the dude doesn't want to sell the house, and it's not the place for us. It's hard to believe that though because it just seemed so perfect. I guess what bothers me is the only thing we heard was he didn't like the contingency, and now he's taking his sweet time with the rest of the contract.. At this pace we might not even need to mention a contingency because we'll sell our house!!! I mean, snails pace people. Snails pace.

We're looking at another place tonight. Here's the link

I'm a little concerned that the appliances don't match in the kitchen, and the paint colors are hideous, but paint can be changed. I also am curious to see the storage, because at this point, that was my favorite thing about the other house. We'll see. I'm also kind of over ranches. Dunno, Jeff likes it, so I'll give it a chance.

Waiting Game

The sign is in the yard, the price has been set, and appointments have been made. Our house officially listed. Pretty exciting! We also made the offer yesterday for the other house. It's been almost 24 hours, and I'm going nuts with anticipation.. I don't think that it's going to be accepted, but we have another offer in mind for round two. We also are feeling the money pressure. I made my lunch today which is a good step. Also, I deposited some, and have dinner plans tonight which only require the purchase of a bag of rice... Sounds great so far!

The adventure has begun

Edit:

Our listing is up!!!

Well well well

The sign is in the yard! The offer has been made. The ball has started rolling. Either way, we have realized that we need to save a lot for closing costs since we have only maybe half of the required amount.. So I've started planning, I'm going to do some things that we should have done a long time ago..

Such as:

Make lunches
Eat more in season produce like squash, carrots, beans, apples, potatoes, etc.
Coupon clipping
Eat out less, and go out less
Shopping is out of the question
Netflicks
No more magazines
Homemade coffee drinks, no more Starbucks or Henry's

From now on the fun things we do will be, watching movies at home, making popcorn on the stove, and reading. I have a lot of homework coming up anyway, so doing too much is out of the question. So for the next month or two I will be concentrating on school, work, and cheap meals.. Sounds fun!!

Let the fun begin

We listed the house today and made an offer on another one.. By Sunday or Monday things will get rolling!!!! So excited, but scared too. Signing the first bought of paperwork totally gave me flashbacks to my childhood. FUN! I'll post links to the listing once it's up!

La Premier

Hi! This is my first post about our journey to a new home. As a former corporate brat, I am no stranger to the moving process, but this is my first time doing it "alone". My husband has agreed to start looking for a bigger house, and to sell his old bachelor pad! As you can tell, I'm ecstatic. Maybe I'll get a cooks kitchen? Or a laundry room I can iron in??? We'll see

The last few days we have been deep cleaning to prep for sale. It is amazing what you can do with a toothbrush and some lysol. I've done most of the woodwork, all the blinds, and grout in the entire house with a toothbrush. They look pretty awesome! The house exterior has been repainted, there are two new gates in our wooden fence, a new gutter system in the front, repainted window sills, patched up grout. Inside we've shampooed carpets, dusted every bit of surface possible, scrubbed the walls, cleaned out closets, organized cabinets, everything possible. We're both pretty exhausted, but I have to admit, with my school schedule I've done a lot less than Jeff has.

(This is a photo of the house pre-landscaping and repainting. I'll put an updated photo up later)

I believe that with a price tag of $110,000, we should be able to sell it to a young couple, or another bachelor, a first time home buyer if you will. We'll see! I'm pretty stoked to start this. I've watched my parents do this for years, and now I get to do it! Yay!
